I spent the first week of my trip staying with Sam in Sydney. I looked around Sydney Harbour and travelled on various ferries and boat trips, getting on the wrong ferry only once (to end up at a funfair rather than the zoo). I made it to Taronga Zoo in the end, and also visited the Australian Museum with the giant kangaroo and wombat (NOT accompanying them, they were exhibits).
